Vitamin D 1,25-Dihydroxy, also known as Calcitriol, is produced in the liver and kidneys by converting Vitamin D 25-Hydroxy. Calcitriol is also a form of vitamin D used to treat and prevent low calcium levels in the blood of patients with dysfunctional kidneys or parathyroid glands. A low level of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D can be seen in acute
Jan 17, 2017 · The assay quality is monitored by participation in the Vitamin D External Quality Assessment Scheme (DEQAS). The reportable results for this test included the concentrations of 25 (OH)D2, 25 (OH)D3, and total 25OHD (calculated as the sum of 25 (OH)D2 and 25 (OH)D3). The analytical measuring range is 1.5–624 nmol/L. 25-OH vitamin D 3 /D 2: a validated, online TurboFlow™ method; a commercially available 2D-SPE-LC-MS/MS kit method (Chromsystems MassChrom® 25-OH Vitamin D 3 /D 2); and a 1D chromatography method. Experimental Conditions A 100 µL sample of plasma was mixed with 200 µL inter-nal standard (IS) in acetonitrile, vortexed, and centrifuged. It is also important to remember that circulating 1,25(OH) 2 D provides essentially no information with respect to the patient’s nutritional vitamin D status. Thus, circulating 1,25(OH) 2 D should not be used as an indicator for hypo- or hypervitaminosis D when nutritional factors are suspected.
Feb 5, 2013 · These results add to the initial observation that vitamin D 2 was as effective as vitamin D 3, not only in raising blood levels of total 25(OH)D (31, 32) but also in sustaining blood levels of total 1,25(OH) 2 D because the total 1,25(OH) 2 D was the same after 11 weeks in both of the groups who received 1000 IU vitamin D 2 or 1000 IU vitamin D 3.
Aug 9, 2018 · It is known that an active metabolite of Vitamin D, 1,25(OH) 2 D, is mainly responsible for hypercalcaemia in sarcoidosis . Cholecalciferol and ergocalciferol collected through diet and sun exposure are firstly hydroxylated in the liver to 25(OH)D. A second hydroxylation occurs normally in the kidneys by 1a-hydroxylase to 1,25(OH) 2 D.
